Each display includes a rock/mineraloid sample, a two-sided information card, an elevated display platform with the planet (or item) 's name, and a storage box.
The Planet Venus display is designed to open the door to learning and discovering Venus—and what obsidian is all about! It is a great showcase and inspirational item to place on a desk, in a display case, or anywhere you can pass by and be reminded of our amazing universe.
Additionally, this item was created to dig deeper into our solar system's what, how, and why. Whether the choice is to understand more about the planet itself or the rock and mineral sample itself, each product provides multiple directions for the owner to explore further. Obsidian, a volcanic glass, forms when molten lava cools rapidly, leaving no time for crystals to develop. It’s primarily composed of silica (SiO₂), but is an amorphous solid, giving it a glass-like structure with a conchoidal fracture pattern. Ranking about 5-5.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, obsidian is a sharp-edged stone often used by ancient civilizations for tools and weapons due to its razor-like edges. Its deep, glossy black surface is sometimes streaked with colors from trace elements like iron and magnesium, making each piece unique. Known for its reflective, almost mirror-like appearance, this mineral feels like holding a piece of the planet's ancient heart in your hand.
Each sample mineraloid/rock is hand-picked for its size, color, consistency, and how well it represents the planet. For this reason, each one is unique in its properties and will vary from sample to sample. We've lovingly ensured that each one is an excellent example of its geological classification and the planet it represents.
The two-sided cards contain visually complementing front information about the planet, planet, or other celestial object... including an "area of interest" that begs to look further into where this unique location on the planet/planetoid. If it's a gas-giant planet, we've selected a moon that is orbiting the planet and an exciting location on that moon!
The back of the card has a quick link and QR code to our website with information about the planet/planetoid, the mineral rock, links to the latest news for that celestial object you have, and more. This landing page is specific to the planetary kit you own! It is also DYNAMIC, which means that as new and exciting information becomes available, we will update it to include the latest and greatest information!
