Whether the choice is to understand more about the planet itself or the rock and mineral sample itself, each product provides multiple directions for the owner to explore further. Sodium chloride, the crystalline form of NaCl, is better known as common table salt, but it’s a mineral that has shaped human civilization. With a cubic crystal structure and a Mohs hardness of 2.5, NaCl is soft but crucial to life, regulating fluid balance in organisms. Beyond Earth, sodium chloride has been found in space, on moons like Europa, suggesting the presence of ancient oceans in places far from the warmth of the Sun. As vital in chemistry as it is in mythology, salt remains a symbol of preservation and life, stretching its influence from the kitchen to the cosmos.
Each sample mineraloid/rock is hand-picked for its size, color, consistency, and how well it represents the planet. For this reason, each one is unique in its properties and will vary from sample to sample. We've lovingly ensured that each one is an excellent example of its geological classification and the planet it represents.
The two-sided cards contain visually complementing front information about the planet, planet, or other celestial object... including an "area of interest" that begs to look further into where this unique location on the planet/planetoid. If it's a gas-giant planet, we've selected a moon that is orbiting the planet and an exciting location on that moon!
The back of the card has a quick link and QR code to our website with information about the planet/planetoid, the mineral rock, links to the latest news for that celestial object you have, and more. This landing page is specific to the planetary kit you own! It is also DYNAMIC, which means that as new and exciting information becomes available, we will update it to include the latest and greatest information!
