Description
Ceres, the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, is symbolized by rhodonite, a stone known for its striking pink hues. Ceres is classified as a dwarf planet, and its surface is believed to be composed of water ice mixed with various minerals. Recent space missions have suggested that Ceres may have once harbored an ocean beneath its surface. This rhodonite sample captures the spirit of discovery associated with Ceres, and the accompanying card dives into the scientific findings about Ceres’ composition, its place in the asteroid belt, and the potential for it to host organic materials. Continue your learning about Ceres with this inspirational kit!

Each display includes a rock/mineral sample, a two-sided information card, an elevated display platform with the planet (or item) 's name, and a storage box.

Dwarf Planet Ceres display is designed to open the door to learning and discovery about Ceres—and what rhodonite is all about! It is a great showcase and inspirational item to place on a desk, in a display case, or anywhere you can pass by and be reminded of our amazing universe.

Additionally, this item was created to dig deeper into our solar system's what, how, and why. Whether the choice is to understand more about the planet itself or the rock and mineral sample itself, each product provides multiple directions for the owner to explore further. If you or the person you gift this to is inquisitive and curious and likes to follow paths to new knowledge, this is definitely for you or them!

Rhodonite, primarily composed of manganese silicate (MnSiO₃), displays its signature pink color due to the presence of manganese, with black veins of manganese oxide creating striking contrasts. This mineral ranks between 5.5 and 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it both durable and aesthetically unique. Holding this mineral feels like having a piece of the planet's surface in your hand.

Each sample mineral/rock is hand-picked for its size, color, consistency, and how well it represents the planet. For this reason, each one is unique in its properties and will vary from sample to sample. We've lovingly ensured that each one is an excellent example of its geological classification and the planet it represents.

The two-sided cards contain visually complementing front information about the planet, planet, or other celestial object... including an "area of interest" that begs to look further into where this unique location on the planet/planetoid. If it's a gas-giant planet, we've selected a moon that is orbiting the planet and an exciting location on that moon!

The back of the card has a quick link and QR code to our website with information about the planet/planetoid, the mineral rock, links to the latest news for that celestial object you have, and more. This landing page is specific to the planetary kit you own! It is also DYNAMIC, which means that as new and exciting information becomes available, we will update it to include the latest and greatest information!
